Why is petrolatum used in SHEALD Recovery Balm and what type is used?

The petrolatum used in SHEALD Recovery Balm is pharmaceutical grade, the same quality and purity that is used in medications, and it contains no impurities, toxins, or other substances. It is incorporated into SHEALD Recovery Balm along with the other ingredients that contribute to many functions, including barrier protectant properties. This product is commonly used in post-procedure care where products must be somewhat unctuous to protect the wound surface. Petrolatum works well in this regard, especially in combination with bio-identical lipids that are exactly like those found in the skin barrier. Skin barrier compromise may occur in many situations, including post-procedure, sunburn, weather exposure, sports, dryness, and various skin conditions, and SHEALD Recovery Balm can temporarily protect and augment the skin barrier until it recovers fully. Many individuals with severely dry skin even prefer it as their moisturizer.
