What is the potential problem with octinoxate in sunscreens and do iS Clinical sunscreens contain octinoxate?

In February 2020, the state of Hawaii enacted legislation forbidding the sale of octinoxate-containing sunscreens bought over-the-counter (OTC) within Hawaii. Florida enacted similar legislation, although in July 2020, this law was repealed in Florida, due to belief in the original research about the effects of octinoxate on coral reefs being faulty. Many expert scientists have voiced opinions that the research about octinoxate potentially damaging coral reefs was improperly conducted and was without practical application. Eclipse SPF50+ contains no octinoxate. Extreme Protect SPF30 contains micro-encapsulated octinoxate which means that only a very small amount of octinoxate is needed to achieve an SPF of 30.
